This is an exciting time for us as we are planning our Annual Fred Astaire Golf Tournament on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Kingwood Country Club. This year’s benefiting charity will be the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA).
Pulmonary Hypertension is an emerging chronic disease that is often undiagnosed or at least misdiagnosed. In short, the disease involves high blood pressure in the pulmonary artery because of changes in the small blood vessels in the lungs that make it harder for blood to flow through the vessels. This has potential life-threatening consequences such as the enlargement and subsequent failure of the right side of the heart.
Because Pulmonary Hypertension is such a rare disease, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association is working on increased awareness of the disease, which will lead to a better diagnosis rate. Early detection and diagnosis of the disease has a direct effect on the patient’s life span. And as with all rare diseases, Pulmonary Hypertension suffers from a lack of funding for research. The medical experts in the field of Pulmonary Hypertension feel that a cure is within reach provided there are available research dollars. 100% of all profits will benefit PHA for research!!
On behalf of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, the patients, friends and families, we ask for your help and thank you for your participation. Together we can find a cure for PH!
